Three Great Quotes

I really just wanted to share a few quotes that I have come across about books and children. These really hit home to me, and I hope you find them inspirational as well.

“A love of books, of holding a book, turning its pages, looking at its pictures, and living its fascinating stories goes hand-in-hand with a love of learning.”
Laura Bush
Former First Lady

“One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child.”
Maria Montessori

And…here is an interpretation of this quote by Glenda Fuge, MS, H.Ed, OTR and co-founder of Developmental Pathways for Kids. She is also my mother-in-law (and a great one!) “I would interpret that to mean that any method of learning should be measured by whether or not a child is having fun while engaging in that activity…certainly Frecklebox books emphasize the fun and engagement aspect by focusing on the child as a “star.”

And one more…this reaches way back to the late 1800′s….

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers.”
Charles W. Eliot
President of Harvard University, 1869 – 1909
